Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Norvac! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Davies! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ron Honeybunn and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davies slips a straight right by Norvac. Davies with the counter takedown but Norvac avoids it easily. Norvac is looking to chop away at Davies's legs. Norvac throws a nice looking combination but Davies bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Norvac moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Davies shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Norvac defends it nicely. A swing and a miss from Norvac. Davies doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Norvac throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Davies with the counter takedown but Norvac avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A momentary lapse in concentration from Norvac enables Davies to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Norvac manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Norvac is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Davies is controlling him. Davies is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davies is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Norvac working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Davies. Davies is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Davies trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Davies controlling from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Davies stops Norvac from standing up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Davies fails with a takedown attempt. Norvac is looking for a counter combo. Davies goes for a double leg but Norvac avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Norvac continues to drive forward. Jimmy Norvac has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Davies. Norvac connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Davies shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Norvac scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Davies moves forwards but Norvac connects with a nice, crisp jab. Norvac lands a jab to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Davies misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Norvac's jab looks to have found its range, popping Davies under the eye. Norvac misses with an uppercut. Davies saw that one coming. Davies shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Norvac sprawls well. Norvac wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Davies gets slowly back to his feet. Norvac misses with a double jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Norvac connects with a body shot that sends Davies's belly button to the back. Good shot there by Norvac. Norvac is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Nice uppercut lands for Norvac. That snapped Davies's head back.
Norvac fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Davies looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Davies fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Norvac lunges at Davies with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Davies's hand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Norvac scores with the left hand. Davies knows he should have avoided that one. Davies fails to land the takedown. Davies takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmy Norvac dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Norvac smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Davies takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Norvac scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Davies doesn't seem bothered though. Davies fails with a takedown attempt. Peter Davies is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Norvac connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Davies shoots and misses and Norvac counters with a nice low kick that buckles Davies's knee momentarily. Norvac bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Jimmy Norvac seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davies blocks a jab. Norvac defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Davies. Jimmy Norvac has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Davies. Davies shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Norvac is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Davies can do to turn this around? Norvac comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Nice uppercut lands for Norvac. That snapped Davies's head back.

Davies takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Norvac lands with a nice combination. Davies backs away looking to recover. Norvac lands a jab to the nose.
Davies is rocked! Davies closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Davies is still on wobbly legs! Can Norvac finish him? Norvac drops Davies with a beautiful combination! Davies stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Norvac is looking for the KO! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Davies takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Norvac moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Davies has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Norvac scores with a sloppy right hand. Davies should have avoided that one. Norvac scores with a decent looking hook.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davies takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Davies moves forwards but Norvac connects with a nice, crisp jab. Norvac with a body punch. A glancing blow. Davies seems to have recovered his senses. Davies gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Norvac counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Norvac. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Davies being controlled against the cage. Norvac pressing his opponent against the cage. Norvac gets underhooks to prevent Davies's takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Norvac escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Good standup being displayed there by Norvac as he connects with a hook. Davies uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Norvac. Norvac connects with a single shot there. Davies on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Davies shoots in looking for a takedown but Norvac manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Davies's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. It looked like Norvac was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Davies. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Norvac lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Norvac fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Norvac throws a quick inside leg kick. Norvac throws a series of strikes that have Davies backpedaling.

Norvac's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Norvac duly obliges. Norvac stuns Davies with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Norvac stalks Davies and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Davies's face. Davies staggers backwards, shaken. Norvac lands with a straight right. And that's the end of the fight! Jimmy Norvac showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Norvac, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
