The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vovchanchyn scores with a kick to the body.
Vovchanchyn fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Vovchanchyn moves into the clinch. Zakalis takes a knee right on the jaw!

It looks like Theo Zakalis has been cut. Vovchanchyn tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Zakalis tries to break free but Vovchanchyn pushes him back against the cage. Vovchanchyn lands a hook that snaps the head of Zakalis backwards. Vovchanchyn misses with a knee strike.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Vovchanchyn tries a knee to the head but Zakalis blocks it.

Zakalis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Vovchanchyn, right into the meat.
Vovchanchyn steps into range and cracks Zakalis with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Zakalis flops backwards and Vovchanchyn dives into his guard looking to finish!

That's one minute gone in the round. Vovchanchyn postures up in Zakalis's guard and throws a big left but Zakalis blocks it. Vovchanchyn is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Vovchanchyn continues to stall. Vovchanchyn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Zakalis parries the strikes from Vovchanchyn easily there. Vovchanchyn is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Zakalis to escape.
Vovchanchyn controlling the position. Sloppy strikes there by Vovchanchyn. A lull in the action here. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vovchanchyn's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Vovchanchyn misses with the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zakalis is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Igor Vovchanchyn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vovchanchyn has taken the fight to the clinch.

Igor Vovchanchyn dominated that round. The cut man is working on Theo Zakalis's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Vovchanchyn is working the Thai clinch up against the cage. He yanks Zakalis's head to one side and delivers a picture perfect knee, right on the button! Boom! Down goes Zakalis! He's out! He's out! The fight is over, just like that!
