Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alvin Firpo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owin Erl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvin Firpo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alvin Firpo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Owin Erl!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Firpo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Erl has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Erl moves into the clinch.
Erl working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Firpo wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Erl displaying some good clinch control by pressing Firpo up against the cage.
Erl stalling the fight.
Erl misses with a hook to the ribs.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Erl creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
I was talking to Firpo's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Erl lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Erl takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Erl decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Erl is trying to control the action in half guard but Firpo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Erl looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Erl creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Firpo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Firpo parries the strikes from Erl easily there. Erl is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Firpo to escape.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Erl is looking to take a break and control but Firpo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Firpo throws a head kick but Erl moves out of range.
Erl wants to counter the offense by Firpo and move into the clinch position.
Firpo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Erl moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Erl feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That's time! Firpo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Erl bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Firpo's guard.

Erl has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Firpo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Erl controls the pace.
