PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yen Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruno Helio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Askren comes into the arena with Hello from the Askren Side blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yen Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Helio!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Helio sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Helio tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Helio looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Askren displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Helio.
Helio doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Askren stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Askren clinches up with Helio and pushes him back against the cage.
A short body shot lands from Askren as the two fighters clinch.
Askren stalling in the clinch.
Askren lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Helio or not.

Askren has Helio pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Askren pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Helio tumbling to the mat - Askren dives into Helio's guard.
Askren chips away with some ground and pound.
Askren throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Helio works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Helio utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Askren engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Askren cracks Helio with a solid left hand.
Askren chips away with some ground and pound.
Askren throws a big right hand that misses.
Askren lands a couple of digs.

Helio is rocked!
Helio has momentary wrist control but Askren slips an elbow through the middle.
Helio is still in real trouble! Can Askren finish him?
Askren working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Helio's head.
Askren missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Askren throws a big elbow that misses.
Askren scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Askren might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Askren postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Askren works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Askren working over Helio with some ground and pound. Helio looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Askren creates some space for himself and unloads with a monster right hand! That one landed with a sickening thud - Helio is out cold and this one is all over! Askren climbs onto the cage to celebrate with his corner!! He's shouting something into the camera but he's still got his mouthpiece in so God knows what he's actually saying.
