Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Simard! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Simard. Davis throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Simard stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Simard wants it to stay on the feet. Davis shoots in looking for a takedown but Simard manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Davis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Davis backing away here, and Simard unleashes a leg kick that just misses. A head kick misses from Davis. Simard fails in his attempt to clinch. Davis lands with a good body shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davis wants it to stay on the feet. Simard dives in for a single leg takedown but Davis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Davis lands a jab. Simard misses with a takedown and Davis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Davis breaks the clinch.
Davis takes the fight into the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Davis unloads a knee to the mid-section. Simard lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Davis lands a nice elbow. Davis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Simard tries to clinch but Davis is having none of it. No luck with that takedown attempt from Simard. Davis throws a head kick but Simard moves out of range.
As Davis backs off Simard throws a huge counter combo but Davis manages to avoid it all. Simard fails with a takedown attempt. Davis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Simard counters with a nice uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Simard. Davis throws a big counter combination but Simard scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Davis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Simard swivels and escapes. Davis drives through and clinches with Simard against the cage.

Davis decides to pull guard. Davis controlling the position. Davis throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Davis is looking to stand up but Simard isn't so interested in that idea. Simard trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom. Simard prevents Davis from getting back to his feet. Davis wants to sweep but no luck. Simard trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Simard trying to control the action but Davis is working from the bottom. Davis looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Simard is looking for a kimura here.
