PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Bondurant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Showtime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Showtime has chosen Old Toms Hut as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bondurant fails with a takedown attempt.
Bondurant looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Bondurant will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Showtime misses with a few strikes there.
Showtime tries to clinch up.
Bondurant closes the distance and clinches up with Showtime, looking for a takedown. Bondurant pushes Showtime against the cage but Showtime circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Showtime throws a right and a left that Bondurant avoids nicely.

Showtime shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bondurant's guard.

Bondurant controls Showtime momentarily but Showtime frees himself.
Showtime wants to stand and escape but instead Bondurant has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Bondurant wants to control from the top but Showtime keeps moving.
Bondurant throws a big elbow that misses.
Bondurant passes Showtime's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Bondurant is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Showtime is looking to improve his position.

Showtime really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bondurant. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, if Bondurant is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Bondurant is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Showtime is just riding it out for now. Bondurant eventually gives up the hold.

Bondurant wants to lay and pray for a moment but Showtime keeps working.
Bondurant thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Showtime makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Showtime.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bondurant landing with the ground and pound.
Bondurant controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Showtime is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bondurant is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Showtime closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bondurant did well to prevent Showtime getting side control.
It looks like Showtime is going to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bondurant pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Showtime is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Showtime rushes Bondurant and presses him up against the cage.
Bondurant jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Showtime walks away with a smile on his face. Bondurant gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Showtime gets the takedown into side control.
Bondurant is looking for a sweep.

Showtime decides to stand back up.
No joy there for Showtime, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bondurant changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Showtime ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bondurant moves away.
Showtime jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Showtime throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bondurant tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Showtime is in Bondurant's guard.

Showtime is posturing up here but Bondurant has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Showtime tries to roll out but it's too tight and Showtime has to tap! Slick submission there by Bondurant!
