Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Gustafson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeremy Stylez! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stylez's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gustafson under the eye. Stylez lands a high kick!
Stylez gets a clinch. Stylez is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Stylez manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
We've been hearing reports that Gustafson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Stylez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gustafson can't fight it off and eventually Stylez manages to take the fight to the floor. Gustafson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Stylez wants to stand and escape but instead Gustafson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Gustafson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Gustafson controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gustafson is looking to work some ground and pound but Stylez has wrist control. Stylez wants to sweep but no luck. Gustafson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Gustafson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stylez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gustafson has Stylez in his guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gustafson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stylez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stylez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stylez wanted to stand there but Gustafson had control of the position. Gustafson looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Gustafson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stylez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gustafson pulls Stylez in close to prevent any damage. Gustafson has a closed guard, preventing Stylez from standing up. Stylez stands and steps away. Gustafson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Jeremy Stylez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gustafson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Stylez throws a head kick that misses. Gustafson throws a big counter combination but Stylez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Gustafson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Stylez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stylez throws a fast counter high kick but Gustafson manages to duck under it in time. Stylez moves out of range of the body kick from Gustafson.
A punch combination from Gustafson misses. Stylez throws a right and a left that Gustafson avoids nicely. Stylez has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Stylez with a hook.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stylez throws a right and a left that both miss. Stylez tries a head kick but it misses.
Stylez lands a jab-cross combination. Stylez throws a head kick but Gustafson moves out of range.
Stylez wants to clinch. Stylez goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A jab lands there for Stylez. Nice sprawl there from Stylez as Gustafson shoots in. Stylez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gustafson. Stylez swats away the attempt to clinch by Gustafson. No joy there for Stylez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeremy Stylez dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Stylez throws a head kick that misses. Gustafson avoids the head kick by Stylez.
Stylez scores with a decent looking hook. Stylez's corner calls for a 1-2. Stylez obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Stylez smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. A head kick misses from Stylez. Gustafson attempts a counter takedown but Stylez avoids it well and moves away. Stylez has closed the distance and engaged Gustafson in a clinch.
Stylez jumps into guard, dragging Gustafson to the mat.
Gustafson is in close to Stylez's body, working some short punches and elbows. Gustafson forces his way into half guard. Gustafson controlling the pace. Stylez strikes from the bottom but Gustafson passes into mount!

That's one minute gone in the round. Gustafson landing shots from mount. Alexander Gustafson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gustafson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Stylez wants to try and get back to his feet. Stylez wants to control but Gustafson is having none of it. Stylez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Gustafson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Stylez manages to avoid the submission attempt. Gustafson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Stylez is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gustafson yanks on the arm and Stylez is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gustafson.
