Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baadau Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyoto Machida! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Baadau Santiago! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santiago shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Machida tries to get back to half guard but can't. Machida defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Santiago. Santiago is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Machida looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Santiago is trying to stand back up but Machida is controlling him
Machida tries to stand but can't do so whilst Santiago controls his leg. Machida landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Machida connects with a nice short shot to Santiago's temple. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Santiago has his hands clasped together around Machida's back. He's all about the action. Machida drops an elbow to the side of Santiago's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Machida not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Machida looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Santiago with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Santiago looks gassed! Machida missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Santiago gets full guard. Santiago is looking for a triangle but Machida pushes his legs off easily.

Santiago has momentary wrist control but Machida slips an elbow through the middle. Machida keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Santiago's head. Machida wants to stand but Santiago has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Machida stopping the sweep attempt from Santiago. Santiago is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Machida is controlling him. Machida makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Machida connects with a couple of short punches. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Machida is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Machida works over Santiago with some ground and pound from guard. Machida postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Machida wanted to stand there but Santiago had control of the position. Santiago throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Santiago controls Machida momentarily but Machida frees himself. Santiago has a closed guard, preventing Machida from standing up. Machida has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Machida makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Machida postures up in Santiago's guard and throws a big left but Santiago blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Machida missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Machida advances to half guard. Santiago actively working from the bottom here. Santiago is trying to stand up here but Machida is controlling him well. Machida tries to pass to full mount but Santiago defends it. Santiago actively working from the bottom here. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Machida working some strikes from top position. Santiago working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Machida doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Santiago is tightening it up a little... Machida has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Machida reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Machida taps out! nice BJJ there by Santiago!
