The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Costa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Da Costa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Briggs prevents Da Costa from improving position.
Da Costa grinds an elbow into Briggs's temple.
Briggs isn't going anywhere.
Briggs is letting Da Costa control him for a moment.
You can see the frustration on Briggs's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Briggs is trying to escape the position but Da Costa is controlling the position.

Da Costa working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Da Costa advances nicely into full mount.
Da Costa controlling his opponent.
Da Costa has hold of Briggs's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Briggs manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Da Costa connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Da Costa lands a big elbow.
Briggs is rocked!
It looks like Emmitt Briggs has been cut.
Da Costa postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Briggs badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Da Costa around the waist but Da Costa pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Da Costa is the winner by TKO! Da Costa jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
