Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Rhodes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashad Sherman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rashad Sherman is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Rhodes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rashad Sherman! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sherman dives in and scores a takedown into Rhodes's guard. Rhodes has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Sherman has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Sherman looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Rhodes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rhodes ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Sherman takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Rhodes avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Rhodes pushes Sherman up against the cage in a clinch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rhodes tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sherman smiles and moves away.

Rhodes is trying to break the clinch but Sherman has him pressed against the cage. Rhodes is looking to break free of the clinch but Sherman has double underhooks. Rhodes breaks the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rhodes digs a good body shot into Sherman's ribs. Rhodes closes the distance but Sherman moves to the side and Sherman counters with a one-two to the body. Rhodes avoids the body shot from Sherman.
Rhodes moves into the clinch. Sherman looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Sherman tries to break free but Rhodes pushes him back against the cage. Rhodes fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Rhodes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rhodes manages to break the clinch.
Rhodes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Rhodes is controlling the pace.
Sherman is controlling Rhodes's trapped leg to prevent Rhodes from advancing to side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sherman tries to get to full guard but Rhodes has control of the leg. Rhodes postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Sherman to stand up. Rhodes lands with a good body shot. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rhodes tries to keep at a distance but Sherman has taken the fight into the clinch. Rhodes is trying to pull guard but Sherman turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sherman is trying to break free. Rhodes jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sherman walks away with a smile on his face. Rhodes gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Sherman takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Rhodes lands with a nice body punch. Rhodes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sherman circles away quickly and effectively. Rhodes closes the distance and clinches. Rhodes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rhodes lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rhodes. Rhodes scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Sherman is trying to control but can't.
Rhodes working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rhodes stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Sherman to get to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rhodes throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sherman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Rhodes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Rhodes breaks from the clinch.
A punch combination from Rhodes misses. Rhodes clinches up with Sherman and pushes him back against the cage. Rhodes manages to break the clinch.
Rashad Sherman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sherman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rhodes throws a quick counter head kick but Sherman was just out of range. Rhodes clinches. Rhodes drags the fight down to the ground.
Rhodes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sherman's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeff Rhodes dominated that round. That's time! Rhodes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Rhodes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sherman. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Rhodes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sherman can do to turn this around? Rhodes lands with a good body shot. Rhodes is looking to wear down Sherman with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Rhodes misses with a body shot.

Sherman throws a lazy head kick and Rhodes counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Rhodes dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jeff Rhodes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rhodes shoots in looking for a takedown. Sherman tries to sprawl out of it but Rhodes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sherman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Sherman is breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rhodes gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rhodes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rhodes digs a good hook to Sherman's body.
Sherman pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Sherman throws a half hearted mid kick. Rhodes scores with a head kick.
Sherman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Rhodes seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Sherman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rhodes to the mat! Rhodes manages to get full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sherman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Rhodes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sherman is one step ahead there. Rhodes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sherman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sherman trying to control the position from guard on top but Rhodes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rhodes pushes Sherman off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A head kick from Rhodes lands but Sherman takes it in his stride. Sherman just misses with a punch to the body.

Rhodes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Rhodes clinches up with Sherman and pushes him back against the cage. Rhodes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Sherman to keep the fight standing. Rhodes breaks the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes from Sherman. Those never looked like landing. Rhodes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Rhodes has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rhodes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rhodes tries to pull guard but Sherman forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Jeff Rhodes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rhodes gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Rhodes cracks a nice hook into Sherman's ribs. Rhodes stalks Sherman and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sherman's face. Sherman staggers backwards, shaken. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rhodes takes a swing at Sherman's ribcage but misses. Sherman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Rhodes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sherman manages to avoid it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sherman closes the distance and clinches. Rhodes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sherman as he avoids it easily. Sherman misses with an attempted mid kick.
Rhodes shoots for a double leg takedown but Sherman sprawls well. He's pushed Rhodes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rhodes avoids the head kick by Sherman.
Sherman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sherman wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Rhodes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rhodes throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Sherman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sherman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sherman taking a breather here. Sherman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rhodes sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Rhodes manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sherman trying to control from half guard but Rhodes is working away. Sherman thows a huge punch but Rhodes dodges it nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sherman is looking to stall here but Rhodes recovers full guard. Rhodes has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Sherman has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Rhodes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sherman clinches. Rhodes drags the fight down to the ground.
Rhodes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rhodes throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sherman with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Rhodes has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sherman has passed into side control.
Sherman scores with a couple of short elbows. Sherman trying to control the position but Rhodes is working away. Rhodes tries to improve position but can't. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sherman remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Rashad Sherman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jeff Rhodes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Rhodes is looking for a sweep.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jeff Rhodes. Well Rhodes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
