PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Freddie Mercury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Tucker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mercury comes into the arena with Imperial March (L.O.D. Rage Mix) blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melvin Tucker!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tucker gets a clinch.
Mercury prevents a takedown attempt there.
Tucker taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Tucker manages to break the clinch.
Mercury throws a sloppy head kick and Tucker moves out of range easily.

Tucker has Mercury up against the cage in a clinch.
Tucker is working for takedown but Mercury is calmly controlling the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tucker has clasped his hands together around Mercury's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Tucker decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mercury to his feet.

Tucker manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Tucker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mercury manages to get himself to full guard.

Tucker won't allow Mercury to get back to his feet.

Tucker postures up and lands a big shot to Mercury's brow.

Mercury dodges the ground and pound from Tucker.

Tucker avoids the head kick by Mercury.

Tucker closes the distance and pushes Mercury back into the cage.

Tucker breaks the clinch.
Tucker shoots in looking for a takedown but Mercury manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tucker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Freddie Mercury has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Melvin Tucker.

Mercury tries to keep at a distance but Tucker has taken the fight into the clinch.

Tucker has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mercury uses from the top position.

Tucker has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mercury clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Mercury covering up well under a series of strikes from Tucker.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Tucker has Mercury flattened out and is raining down punches.
Tucker keeps control of the position easily here as Mercury tries to buck him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mercury throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Tucker decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tucker is taking a breather. Mercury says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Tucker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tucker is continuing to stall.

Tucker seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Mercury is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
