The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie throws a jab but it's blocked by Paul.
Paul throws out a counter right but Gracie avoids it with no problem.
Gracie gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Paul.

Gracie tries to counter by clinching up but Paul breaks away and moves out of range.

Gracie throws a shot from downtown. Paul moves away and avoids it.

Gracie walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Paul checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Paul looks to land a combination but Gracie avoids it well.
As Paul tries to get set, Gracie tries to push him back and clinch up but Paul manages to avoid the attempt.

Paul throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gracie sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Paul uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gracie.
Paul is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Gracie with a body shot.

Paul turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Paul manages to end up in side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Paul is defending well though. Gracie let's go of the attempt for now.

Gracie has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
