The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Hoost pushes Hudson up against the cage in a clinch. Van Hoost fails to pull guard.
Van Hoost jumps guard and drags Hudson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Hudson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Van Hoost keeping moving, preventing Hudson from controlling successfully. Hudson works a leg free and moves into half guard. Hudson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hudson controlling the action here. Van Hoost knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hudson on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hudson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hudson is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Van Hoost is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jeff Hudson!
