And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Antti Hekkingen!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marseglian scores with a takedown into Hekkingen's guard.
Marseglian wants to pass the guard but Hekkingen is keeping the position.

Hekkingen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Marseglian tries to advance to mount but can't.
Marseglian wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hekkingen keeps working.
Hekkingen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Marseglian controls the position.
Hekkingen tries to buck Marseglian off but Marseglian is having none of it.

Marseglian moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Hekkingen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marseglian wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hekkingen manages to work his way to half guard, despite Marseglian's best efforts.
Hekkingen tries to roll over but Marseglian keeps him under control.
Marseglian not doing much here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Marseglian misses with a series of wild punches.

Marseglian drives through with a takedown into Hekkingen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Marseglian is looking to stand up but Hekkingen won't let him.
Hekkingen is trying to keep Marseglian in close.
Hekkingen wants to sweep here but Marseglian controlling him for the moment.
Marseglian passes Hekkingen's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Marseglian is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hekkingen tries to kick Marseglian off but Marseglian keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hekkingen enables Marseglian to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hekkingen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hekkingen is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Marseglian drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hekkingen gets the underhooks and prevents it.

This has been an exciting period of action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hekkingen is looking for a sweep.

Marseglian tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Marseglian has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Marseglian lands a nice forearm strike.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Marseglian wants to control but Hekkingen is keeping him busy.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hekkingen wants to control but Marseglian postures up.
Hekkingen tries to buck Marseglian off but Marseglian is having none of it.
Marseglian connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hekkingen some visible discomfort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marseglian controls the position.
Hekkingen sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Hekkingen is trying to get back to full guard.

Marseglian is trying to work for a kimura but Hekkingen is defending well.
Hekkingen is trying to maintain the position but Marseglian is very close to passing his half guard.

Marseglian is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Marseglian seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hekkingen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Marseglian.
Hekkingen shoots in looking for a takedown. Marseglian tries to sprawl out of it but Hekkingen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marseglian manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Marseglian takes a kick to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hekkingen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Marseglian seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Marseglian moves into the clinch successfully.

Hekkingen trying to control the position but instead, Marseglian has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hekkingen into the cage.

Marseglian manages to break the clinch.
Hekkingen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marseglian's waist but Marseglian gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hekkingen off to one side.

Hekkingen gets caught flat footed, as Marseglian shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Marseglian is pushing down on Hekkingen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hekkingen is fighting to maintain full guard but Marseglian has managed to sneak the leg through.
Marseglian lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Marseglian seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Still in half guard, Marseglian seems content to control.
Hekkingen trying to control here.
Marseglian is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Marseglian controlling the pace for now.

Marseglian is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hekkingen can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Hekkingen tries to hold on but Marseglian postures up.
Marseglian wants to get back to his feet but Hekkingen is holding on tight.

Hekkingen tries to hold on but Marseglian pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Marseglian wants to control the pace but Hekkingen is squirming around nicely.

Well Marseglian has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
