Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dakota The Breeze! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, The Elder! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Breeze has taken the fight to the clinch.
The Breeze pulls guard successfully.
The Breeze looking for a sweep. Not yet The Breeze, not yet. Elder passes easily into side control. Nice work. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Elder blocks the strikes from The Breeze.
Elder trying to control the action but The Breeze is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Elder content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Elder in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Elder wants to lay and pray for a moment but The Breeze keeps working. The Breeze throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! A head kick by The Breeze misses and Elder counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for The Breeze! The Breeze throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The Breeze stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and The Breeze wants it to stay on the feet. Elder misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Elder tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but The Breeze swivels and escapes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Elder throws a right and a left that The Breeze avoids nicely. The Breeze tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Elder manages to circle out of the way. Elder shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with The Breeze but The Breeze pushes him off and we're back to square one. The Breeze changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Dakota The Breeze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Elder. The Breeze gets a takedown into half guard. Elder wants to control but The Breeze is keeping busy and won't allow it. Elder wants to get back to his feet.
The Breeze gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Breeze moves into the clinch. Elder tries to pull guard but The Breeze holds him up against the cage and eventually Elder drops back down to his feet.
The Breeze prevents the takedown attempt.
The Breeze pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Elder is looking to clinch. The Breeze throws a sloppy head kick and Elder counters with a stiff right hand. Elder tries to land a front kick but The Breeze steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. The Breeze appears to be looking for a big counter. The Breeze shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Elder is trying to defend but The Breeze finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Elder wants to control but The Breeze is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Elder wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are battling for position here. Elder manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The Breeze trying to control the position from guard on top but Elder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The Breeze is looking to work some ground and pound but Elder has wrist control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Elder trying to keep a closed guard but The Breeze is proving a slippery customer.
The Breeze working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Elder pulls The Breeze in close to his closed guard and prevents The Breeze from doing any damage or advancing position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dakota The Breeze dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Elder tries for a takedown but The Breeze circles away easily and The Breeze counters by clinching up. The Breeze gets a trip takedown into half guard. Elder is trying to get back to full guard. We've been informed that Elder has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. The Breeze is looking for a kimura but Elder is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for The Breeze to get the leverage. Elder trying to hold on to The Breeze's head to control him but The Breeze postures up.
The Breeze missing with the ground and pound from half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The Breeze is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Elder wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Elder wants to control but The Breeze is keeping busy and won't allow it. Elder moves into full guard.
The Breeze content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Elder has locked up a guillotine! Elder's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? The Breeze is holding on here and Elder must be using up a lot of energy. The Breeze has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Elder gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
