Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drevin Bell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Arderos! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Bell enables Arderos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bell manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Arderos throws a big right hand that misses. Arderos tries to free his leg and advance position but Bell is retaining full guard. Bell has his foot on Arderos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Arderos works his way back into a safe position though. Arderos pushing down on Bell's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Bell keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Bell is trying to stand back up but Arderos is controlling him
Arderos is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bell looking for submissions off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Arderos is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Arderos with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arderos is trying to control the action in half guard but Bell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Arderos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bell defends it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bell is refusing to be controlled, as Arderos sits in half guard. Bell avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Arderos. Arderos throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Arderos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bell is just riding it out for now. Arderos eventually gives up the hold. Arderos has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Bell defend it? Arderos steps over the head and cranks it - Bell is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Arderos!
