Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tangaroa Ngata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Misterioso Damballah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ngata comes to the cage accompanied by Soundcritters - Haka War Chant. Tangaroa Ngata could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to El Misterioso Damballah's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tangaroa Ngata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, El Misterioso Damballah!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ngata darts in and clinches Damballah up against the cage.
Ngata goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Damballah tries for a takedown. No joy.
Damballah jumps guard but Ngata stands there with Damballah around his waist. Damballah gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Ngata lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Nice body punch from Ngata - that landed with a thud.
Damballah goes for a takedown attempt but Ngata pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Tangaroa Ngata has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of El Misterioso Damballah.
Ngata clinches with his opponent.
Ngata throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Ngata breaks the clinch.
Ngata takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Damballah fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ngata manages to avoid it.
Damballah fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Ngata wants to clinch.
Damballah ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ngata moves away.
Nice defenses there by Ngata.
Ngata slips a jab from Damballah.
Ngata takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Damballah throws a series of punches but Ngata moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ngata tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ngata takes the fight into the clinch.
Damballah changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ngata fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Damballah scores with a hook.
Ngata fails in his attempt to clinch.
Damballah lands a slapping body shot.
Ngata is looking to clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Damballah! But no joy.
Damballah swings widly with a right hand
and Ngata counters with a stiff right hand.
Ngata looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ngata darts in and clinches Damballah up against the cage.
Ngata lands with a short shot to the head.
Ngata is pressed up against the cage. Damballah has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ngata down to the mat. Ngata avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Damballah rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ngata moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ngata swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Ngata clinches up with Damballah and pushes him back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ngata.
Ngata working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Ngata misses with a hook to the ribs.
Damballah goes for a takedown attempt but Ngata pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ngata moves into range and clinches up with Damballah.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ngata throws a head punch that misses.
Damballah is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Ngata tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Damballah drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Damballah's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Damballah is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ngata to keep the fight standing.
Ngata scores with a nice hook to the head.
Damballah can't get the takedown.
Ngata pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Damballah misses the shot to the body.
Damballah throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Ngata counters with a crisp right that sends Damballah to the canvas! Ngata follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tangaroa Ngata!
