PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rian MacFarlane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacFarlane has chosen The Foggy Dew as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

It looks like Eddie Armstrong has been cut. We've been informed that MacFarlane has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Armstrong throws a body punch but MacFarlane moves out of range. Armstrong shoots and misses and MacFarlane counters with a stiff right hand. MacFarlane leaves Armstrong with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. MacFarlane lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
MacFarlane lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Armstrong out cold! Armstrong is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rian MacFarlane! After the fight, Rian MacFarlane was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
