PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gator Raid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfie Fletcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raid comes to the cage accompanied by Rio de Janeiro. Gator Raid had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Gator Raid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alfie Fletcher!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Fletcher misses.
Fletcher is looking to clinch.

Raid shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Fletcher tries to hold on but Raid pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raid scoring with strikes but Fletcher is staying in there.
Raid could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Fletcher is trying desperately to improve position.

Fletcher wants to control but Raid is having none of it.
The referee warns Fletcher that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Raid postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Fletcher looks a forlorn figure.

Raid knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fletcher on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fletcher accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fletcher wanted to stand there but Raid had control of the position.

and Raid counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fletcher won't be happy with that.

Fletcher is pushing Raid's head away, looking to escape. Raid manages to hold on to the position though.

Raid closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Raid slips a nice elbow through Fletcher's hands, connecting with Fletcher's forehead.

Fletcher has his takedown stuffed

and Raid counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fletcher!
Raid breaks from Fletcher's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Raid swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Fletcher is now in Raid's guard. A big mistake from Raid there, giving up the dominant position!
Gator Raid overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Raid tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Raid throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Raid wants to control from the top but Fletcher keeps moving.

Raid seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fletcher for as long as he can get away with.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Raid, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
