PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matej Rambo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Stofer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rambo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is We are the champions !. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Stofer!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stofer bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rambo prevents Stofer from improving position.
Rambo struggling a bit here.
Rambo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Stofer's best efforts.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stofer in particular looking to stall.
Stofer wants to pass the guard but Rambo is defending well.
Stofer is controlling the pace.
Rambo is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stofer is looking for a kimura but Rambo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stofer to get the leverage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rambo is looking to improve his position.
Stofer is trying to control the action in half guard but Rambo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Stofer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rambo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rambo wants to control but Stofer is keeping busy.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rambo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Rambo thumps Stofer with a low kick.

Stofer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rambo sprawls well initially but Stofer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Stofer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Rambo wants to control but Stofer is keeping busy and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rambo wants to control the action here but instead Stofer manages to pass to full mount!

Rambo lands a high kick!

Stofer shoots in and bounces Rambo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Stofer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Stofer decides to return to a standing position.
Rambo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rambo wants to clinch
and Stofer finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Stofer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rambo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Stofer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Stofer passes Rambo's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Ryan Stofer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stofer passes the guard and advances to mount!
Rambo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Stofer is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Rambo is fighting to break Stofer's control of his arms but Stofer is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Stofer tries to roll over but Rambo keeps him under control.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Stofer holds on and takes a little breather.

Rambo postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Stofer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Stofer tries to counter with a clinch but Rambo shakes him off and moves away.

Stofer darts in and clinches Rambo up against the cage.
Rambo tries to break free but Stofer pushes him back against the cage.

Stofer has Rambo pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Stofer pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rambo tumbling to the mat - Stofer dives into Rambo's guard.

Rambo looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Stofer is defending well. Rambo quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Stofer has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Rambo celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Matej Rambo!
A pretty intense looking Matej Rambo took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
