PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wilson Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christophe Dupree (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dupree is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Hail Mary. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Christophe Dupree was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Reyes seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Dupree lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Reyes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Reyes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Reyes throws a nice looking combination but Dupree bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. It looks like Wilson Reyes has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dupree shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Reyes but Reyes pushes him off and we're back to square one. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Dupree has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Dupree shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Reyes defends it nicely. Reyes throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Dupree's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Reyes dives in looking to finish as Dupree flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Reyes's strikes! Reyes is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Dupree's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Dupree was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
