Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sean Rice! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demetirius Shaw! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shaw throws a head kick that misses and Rice counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Rice working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Shaw is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rice scores with a couple of nice shots. Rice controlling the pace. Shaw pushes Rice off looking to stand but Rice dives back in and keeps control.
Rice takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Shaw is trying to stand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shaw pushes Rice off but Rice dives into side control.
Shaw tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Shaw tries to buck Rice off but he can't manage it. Rice with the ground and pound from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rice controlling the position easily from mount. Shaw wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rice controlling the position easily from mount. Rice landing punches. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shaw is trying to stand. Rice dominating with strikes here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rice raining down hammerfists from mount. Rice controlling his opponent. Rice lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Rice landing strikes, looking to finish! Rice really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. You get the feeling that Shaw really doesn't like being in this position too much.

He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Rice with the ground and pound from mount. Shaw is in a horrible position here. Rice smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Rice with shots to the head and body - Shaw looks very uncomfortable down there. Rice content just to control the position here. Rice with good strikes from the mount here! Rice won't let Shaw get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Rice controlling his opponent. Shaw is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Shaw looks winded! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shaw is bucking up trying to escape but Rice cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Rice tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sean Rice dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Shaw tries to clinch so Rice counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Rice sitting in guard here, content to control. Rice lands a couple of decent looking shots. Rice is in close to Shaw's body, working some short punches and elbows. Shaw is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rice is controlling him. Shaw is looking to stand back up but Rice counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Shaw. Rice looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Shaw closes the distance but Rice moves to the side and Rice decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Shaw's guard. Rice seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Rice distracts Shaw with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Rice postures up and lands a big shot to Shaw's brow. Shaw is looking to stand back up but Rice counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Shaw. Rice has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Shaw is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rice sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Shaw wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Rice has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rice tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Rice is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shaw can do to turn this around? Shaw squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rice putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Rice looking to control and managing it successfully. Rice unloading with bombs! Rice scoring with strikes but Shaw is staying in there. Rice controlling the position easily from mount. Rice cracks Shaw with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rice cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Rice landing strikes from the mount. Rice controlling his opponent. Rice pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shaw is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rice scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Sean Rice dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Shaw tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rice swats him away and circles back towards the center. Shaw misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shaw just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromRice. Some wild striking there from Shaw.
Shaw gets tackled into the cage by Rice. Rice maintains the clinch. Rice stalling against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Rice. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rice is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shaw pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shaw tries to break free but Rice pushes him back against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Shaw's face as he tries to break the clinch. Rice has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Shaw after a bit of a struggle. Rice drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shaw pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Rice. That's going to take a lot out of him. A left lands for Shaw.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Shaw throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Rice's head. Shaw throws a combination that misses and Rice counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Rice winds up and cracks Shaw with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Well, if Rice is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Shaw is trying to escape back to his feet but Rice uses the scramble to pass into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rice is staying tight to Shaw's torso, preventing him from escaping. Rice prevents Shaw from escaping the position. Rice creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Rice lands some shots froms side control. Rice working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Rice taking a breather here. Sean Rice overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rice lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Rice scoring with punches from side control. Shaw is looking to get back to his feet here but Rice is keeping cool and he's managed to take Shaw's back. Shaw takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Shaw is trying to stand back up. Rice loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Shaw hold on?
And that's the end of the fight! Sean Rice showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rice, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
