PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Braga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Bogard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sergio Braga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Bogard!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Braga instigates a clinch.
Braga holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Braga's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Braga seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Bogard has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Braga uses from the top position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Braga seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Braga's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bogard working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Braga doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Braga manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bogard has his foot on Braga's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Braga works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bogard strikes from the bottom but Braga uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Braga tries to advance to mount but Bogard denies him.

Braga is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bogard knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bogard is looking for a sweep.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bogard is looking to improve his position but Braga isn't that keen on the idea.
Braga seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Bogard is holding on tight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bogard wants to hold on but Braga pushes him away.
Braga looking to control and managing it successfully.
Bogard looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Bogard can't escape the position.
Bogard is trying to escape the mount but Braga keeps good control and instead manages to take Bogard's back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Braga keeping moving, preventing Bogard from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Braga has Bogard pulled in close to control his posture.
Braga will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bogard wants to control from the top but Braga keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Bogard, right into the meat.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bogard checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
As Braga backs off Bogard throws a huge counter combo but Braga manages to avoid it all.
Braga is looking to clinch but Bogard is avoiding it.
Bogard throws a leg kick which misses Braga's front leg but catches the back leg as Braga tries to avoid it.

and Bogard counters with a three punch combo that has Braga backing up. Braga nods at Bogard to acknowledge the strikes.
Bogard misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Braga tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Bogard is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Braga slips a jab and a cross from Bogard.
Braga takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Sergio Braga is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Braga dodges the punch combination from Bogard.

Bogard dips to his left and cracks Braga with an uppercut!

Braga tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bogard swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Braga has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Braga tries to clinch but Bogard moves out of range.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Bogard - that will leave a mark!
Bogard connects with a solid leg kick.
Braga on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Bogard lands with a nice combination. Braga backs away looking to recover.
Bogard feints and then cracks Braga's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Braga down.
Bogard circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bogard unleashes a big counter combination but Braga bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Braga misses with a low kick.
Bogard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bogard lands a right hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As Braga backs off Bogard throws a huge counter combo but Braga manages to avoid it all.
Bogard throws a series of strikes that have Braga backpedaling.
Bogard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bogard has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bogard plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Braga thows a leg kick but Bogard checks it
letting Bogard counter with a right hand.
Good leg kick by Bogard there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Bogard swats away the attempt to clinch by Braga.
Bogard lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Braga gets caught napping as Bogard dives in and scores a takedown. Braga manages to retain guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Bogard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Braga's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

and Bogard finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Bogard goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Bogard moves out of range as Braga throws a body kick.
Despite the aggression on Bogard's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Bogard pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Braga back to the cage. Bogard follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Andy Bogard seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bogard misses with a double jab.
Bogard pushes Braga away with a front kick.
Braga fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bogard scores with a punch to the head.
Bogard lands with a slapping head kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That kick from Bogard tenderised Braga's leg. Braga is trying to keep his angry face on.
Bogard fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Braga.
Braga throws out a leg kick but Bogard moves out of range and Braga only half commits.
Bogard unleashes a big counter combination but Braga bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Bogard throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Braga throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Bogard throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Braga.
A low kick from Braga is predictable there
and Bogard counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Braga thinking.
Bogard feints a jab promting Braga to slip. Bogard then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Braga slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Bogard misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bogard throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Braga drives through and clinches with Bogard against the cage.

Bogard successfully pulls guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bogard looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bogard takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Braga is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Braga slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on Bogard's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Braga tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Braga has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bogard sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Bogard moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Braga engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Braga pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bogard is keeping the position for now.
Braga stays in close to Bogard's body and controls the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andy Bogard comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bogard has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
