Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Sainty! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dirtbag Dan! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dan tries to clinch up and Sainty counters with a lovely shot to the body. Sainty has managed to clinch.
Sainty breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Dan connects with a right hand. Sainty shakes it off. Sainty really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Sainty closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sainty lands in his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sainty controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sainty doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sainty manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dan working for submissions but it's allowed Sainty to get to half guard.
Dan looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sainty is looking for a kimura but Dan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sainty to get the leverage. Sainty seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sainty seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dan for as long as he can get away with. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Sainty works his way into full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Dan is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Sainty has taken his back.
We've been hearing good reports from Sainty's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Dan showing good submission defense here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A bit of a pause in the action here. Sainty controlling the positon. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Sainty dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Dan motions for Sainty to come forward. Dan throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Dan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sainty blocks a low kick nicely. Sainty tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dan swivels and escapes. Dan wants to counter the offense by Sainty and move into the clinch position. Dan throws a head kick that misses. Sainty misses with an attempted mid kick.
Dan follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sainty is defended easily by Dan. Dirtbag Dan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sainty fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dan manages to avoid it. Dan is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Dan is looking to chop away at Sainty's legs. And Sainty counters with a quick kick to the body but Dan blocks it. Sainty changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dan tries to avoid it but Sainty manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dan to the ground. Dan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sainty backing away here, and Dan unleashes a leg kick that just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Sainty. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sainty drives through with a takedown into guard. Sainty pushing down on Dan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Sainty is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dan has managed to free his arm - good work. Sainty slows the pace down in half guard. Dan is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sainty pulls his head out easily. Sainty passes to full mount! Dan can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dan has given up his back. Will we see Sainty going for some submissions?
Sainty working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Dan is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Sainty has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Dan taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Daniel Sainty! Daniel Sainty really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that IniTech Nutrition logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
