PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Frazier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Lethal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lethal has chosen we're off to see the wizard as his entrance music. Matt Lethal will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Frazier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Lethal!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lethal lands with a kick to the ribs.
Frazier tries to clinch but Lethal moves away
and Lethal counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Frazier thinking.
Frazier uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lethal.
A jab lands there for Lethal.

Frazier has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lethal blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A hook to the body from Lethal.
Frazier is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Frazier has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Frazier misses with a knee to the head.
Lethal avoiding damage.
Lethal throws a head punch that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frazier is looking to take this one to the mat.
Lethal struggles to land a body shot inside as Frazier controls his hands.
Frazier pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Lethal lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Lethal throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Fraziers head.

Frazier is trying to trip Lethal. He has hold of a leg but Lethal is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Frazier persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Frazier working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Frazier postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lethal has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Frazier postures up in Lethal's guard and throws a big left but Lethal blocks it.
Frazier controlling from the top position.
Lethal is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lethal preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Frazier is fighting to break Lethal's control of his arms but Lethal is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Frazier instigates a clinch.

Lethal lands a nice shot to the body.
Lethal blocks an elbow strike from Frazier.

Frazier goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Lethal scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Lethal just leaning against Frazier, taking a breather.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Lethal presses Frazier against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
A nice left hand lands by Lethal.
Lethal prevents the takedown attempt.
Frazier's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Frazier misses with a hook to the ribs.
A nice right hand lands inside from Lethal.
Frazier tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Frazier. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee calls for Lethal to work.
Frazier tries to land a knee to the head but Lethal blocks with his arms.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lethal leaning against his opponent.
Frazier takes a shot to the head.
Lethal tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Frazier's elbow.
Lethal throws a punch but it's blocked by Frazier.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lethal gets through Frazier's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Lethal has Frazier pushed against the cage.

Frazier tightens his grip and picks Lethal up, before dumping him to the ground. Lethal manages to land in guard.
Frazier throws a strike but Lethal rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Frazier might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lethal wants to control from the top but Frazier keeps moving.
Lethal slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Frazier wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Lethal dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Frazier walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Frazier shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lethal counters with a head kick. That will keep Frazier thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Frazier tries for a takedown but Lethal sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lethal has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lethal leaves Frazier with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Frazier. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Frazier doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lethal counters with a nice right hand that sends Frazier toppling to the canvas! Frazier scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Lethal finish him?!


Frazier is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lethal lands a brutal uppercut that launches Frazier off his feet! Frazier tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Matt Lethal!
An out of breath Matt Lethal thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
