Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oleg Vlasov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dustin Assad!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vlasov leaves Assad with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Vlasov checks a leg kick nicely.
Assad tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Vlasov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Assad tries to clinch up but Vlasov circles away and keeps his distance.

Vlasov rushes Assad and presses him up against the cage.

Vlasov decides to pull guard.

Assad drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Vlasov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Assad has Vlasov in his guard.


Vlasov stands up and waves to Assad to follow him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vlasov moves into the clinch.

Assad tries to score a body lock takedown but Vlasov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Vlasov looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Assad stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vlasov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Assad is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vlasov defends well.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Assad is on top in guard.

Assad has gone for a leg lock! Vlasov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Assad's guard.

Assad can't keep his opponent in guard - Vlasov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Vlasov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Assad wants to control but Vlasov is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Assad tries to get to full guard but Vlasov has control of the leg.

Vlasov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Assad is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vlasov pulls his head out easily.
Assad is looking for a sweep. Vlasov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vlasov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Vlasov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Assad on the ground.
Vlasov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Assad keeps working.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Vlasov seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

We've been informed that Assad has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Vlasov throws a strike but Assad rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Assad tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vlasov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Assad somewhat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Dustin Assad has been cut.

Assad shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vlasov as he avoids it easily.

Assad tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vlasov paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Vlasov has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Assad clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dustin Assad has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Assad bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vlasov's guard.

I would just about give that final round to Dustin Assad.
Well Vlasov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
