2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Prykti! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Marquez! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marquez takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Prykti. Marquez shrugs it off though. Marquez keeps the fight on the outside. Prykti closes this distance looking for a takedown but Marquez circles away. Prykti shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Marquez drives through with a takedown into guard. Prykti looking to control.
Prykti keeping moving, preventing Marquez from controlling successfully. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Marquez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Prykti is trying to keep Marquez in close.
Marquez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Prykti's guard. Prykti is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marquez missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Prykti wants to control but Marquez is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Marquez cracks a nice hook into Prykti's ribs. Prykti wants to clinch. Prykti has managed to clinch.
Marquez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Marquez tightens his grip and picks Prykti up, before dumping him to the ground. Prykti manages to land in guard. Prykti tries to land a sweep but no joy. Prykti is breathing heavily. Marquez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Prykti is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Prykti can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Marquez controls the pace.

Marquez passes easily into side control. Nice work. Prykti gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Marquez sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. A nice elbow there by Marquez.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prykti tries to hold on but Marquez pushes him away. Prykti tries to reverse the position but Marquez maintains control. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Marquez cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Marquez prevents Prykti from getting the reversal. Marquez controlling the pace for now. Prykti is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Marquez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Prykti manages to avoid the submission attempt. Marquez lands a few punches from side control. Marquez moves into full mount! Prykti is looking to improve his position but Marquez isn't that keen on the idea. Marquez with a couple of short strikes. Prykti tries to hold on but Marquez postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marquez plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Prykti throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Prykti is working an open guard so Marquez takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Marquez tries to close the distance and clinch but Prykti swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Prykti tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Marquez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Marquez lands in his opponent's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Prykti will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Marquez stands up from Prykti's guard - Marquez perhaps looking for a knockout. No joy there for Marquez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Marquez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Prykti's guard. Prykti is trying to control the position but Marquez postures up. Prykti keeping moving, preventing Marquez from controlling successfully. Diego Marquez has got the better of the ground game so far. Marquez prevents Prykti from getting back to his feet. Marquez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Prykti looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Marquez has picked Prykti up and slammed him! Prykti can't keep hold of the triangle and Marquez manages to pass to side control! Prykti manages to get back to half guard. Marquez stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prykti thuds a left hand into Marquez's body. Marquez shoots in but Prykti avoids the takedown attempt easily. Marquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Prykti tries to avoid it but Marquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Prykti to the ground. Prykti escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Prykti tries to clinch and Marquez counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Prykti with a lazy takedown attempt and Marquez finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Marquez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Marquez lands in his opponent's guard. Prykti is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Marquez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Prykti has his hands on Marquez's head, controlling the position. Marquez gets to his feet - Prykti follows without any prompting. Marquez swats away the attempt to clinch by Prykti. Marquez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A head kick misses from Marquez. Marquez fails to land the takedown. Andre Prykti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Marquez. Prykti thows a body shot but no joy. Prykti gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Marquez counters with a left and a right that stings Prykti. Prykti tries for a takedown but Marquez circles away easily and Marquez counters with a shoot takedown. Prykti fights it but they end up in guard. Marquez pushes down on Prykti's leg and manages to get into half guard. Marquez is controlling the pace.

Marquez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Prykti flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Marquez looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Prykti is staying active underneath Marquez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Prykti on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Prykti fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Marquez, pushing him back against the cage. Prykti's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Marquez stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Prykti. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice takedown defense from Prykti. No joy for Marquez on that attempt. Marquez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Marquez lands with some strikes. Prykti tries to hold on but Marquez postures up. Prykti keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Andre Prykti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Prykti clinches up with Marquez and pushes him back against the cage. Prykti has Marquez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Marquez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Marquez gets control of Prykti's arms and successfully pulls guard. Marquez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Prykti slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Marquez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Prykti off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Marquez fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Marquez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Prykti fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A solid leg kick lands there for Marquez.

Marquez is landing with some decent strikes but Prykti is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Marquez get's back to his feet. Andre Prykti is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Marquez fails in his attempt to clinch. A punch combination from Marquez misses. Prykti is looking to clinch but Marquez is avoiding it.

Marquez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Prykti is trying to stand up here but Marquez is controlling him well. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Prykti. Prykti lands with a slapping head kick. Marquez fails with a takedown attempt. Marquez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Prykti regains half guard there - taking advantage of Marquez's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Prykti is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Marquez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Marquez's back! Prykti wants to control but Marquez is keeping busy. Marquez is in bad spot here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Prykti is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Marquez defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Prykti looking to break Marquez's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Marquez remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Prykti will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Prykti is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Marquez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Prykti thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Marquez rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Marquez is not content to let Prykti control the position. Marquez is trying to control but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Marquez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Marquez stuffs the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marquez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Prykti to the mat! Prykti manages to get full guard. Marquez stays in close to Prykti's body and controls the position. Prykti looking to hit a scissor sweep but Marquez is one step ahead there. Prykti seems keen to control Marquez's posture. Marquez trying to control but Prykti is working from the bottom. Prykti working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marquez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marquez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Marquez has had enough of the clinch but Prykti keeps him there for the moment. Prykti can't get the takedown.
