PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Juan Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Lindhart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasquez comes to the cage accompanied by Battery. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Juan Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Julio Lindhart!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasquez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lindhart.
Lindhart tries to clinch up.
It looked like Vasquez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Vasquez throws a series of punches but Lindhart moves out of range.
Vasquez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Vasquez takes the fight into the clinch.

Vasquez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lindhart tries to clinch but Vasquez is having none of it.

Lindhart throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Vasquez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lindhart is in Vasquez's guard.
Vasquez keeping moving, preventing Lindhart from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vasquez wants to stand up but Lindhart is controlling him.
Lindhart pushing down on Vasquez's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Lindhart missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vasquez looks like he's trying to stand up.

Lindhart is working for a kimura but Vasquez is defending it quite comfortably.
Lindhart is looking to advance position but Vasquez won't allow it.

Lindhart is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vasquez sees it coming and defends easily.
Vasquez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vasquez keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lindhart prevents Vasquez from standing back up.
Vasquez is trying to maintain the position but Lindhart is very close to passing his half guard.
Lindhart with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Vasquez tries to kick Lindhart off but Lindhart keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Lindhart not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Lindhart is keen to just control but Vasquez is a slippery customer.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lindhart shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vasquez as he avoids it easily.

Vasquez moves into the clinch successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Vasquez breaks from the clinch.
Vasquez throws a shot to the body.
Vasquez ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Lindhart fails to land the takedown.
Juan Vasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vasquez lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Julio Lindhart has been cut.

Vasquez has managed to clinch.
Vasquez lands a right hand that snaps the head of Lindhart backwards.

Vasquez breaks the clinch.
Vasquez punishes Lindhart's body with a nice straight punch.
Lindhart looks winded!
Good standup being displayed there by Vasquez as he connects with a hook.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lindhart throws a right and a left that both miss.
Vasquez misses with a few strikes there.
Vasquez throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Lindhart crashing down! Lindhart tries to stagger back to his feet but Vasquez just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Lindhart asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juan Vasquez!
