Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Ryzon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Monson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Ryzon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Monson! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monson thuds his shin into the meat of Ryzon's side. Monson connects with a right hand. Ryzon shakes it off. An inside leg kick lands from Monson. Monson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Ryzon tries to clinch there but Monson circles away.
Good standup being displayed there by Monson as he connects with a hook. Dave Monson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ryzon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Monson tries to avoid it but Ryzon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Monson to the ground. Monson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ryzon tries to clinch up but Monson circles away and keeps his distance. Monson lands a nice shot that snaps Ryzon's head back.

Monson drives through with a takedown into Ryzon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. This has been an exciting period of action! Ryzon has his foot on Monson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Monson works his way back into a safe position though. Monson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Monson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Monson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Monson looking to pass the guard. Monson stopping the sweep attempt from Ryzon. Ryzon definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Monson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ryzon swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ryzon looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Monson stays in close to Ryzon's body and controls the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Monson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ryzon working a defensive guard here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Monson throws a big right hand that misses. Ryzon keeping full guard, as Monson tries to pass.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Monson looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Ryzon pulls Monson in close to prevent any damage. Monson postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ryzon is on top in guard.
Ryzon wants to control from the top but Monson keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ryzon escapes and throws Monson's legs to the side, diving into side control! Monson looks to move to half guard but instead Ryzon has passed into mount! Damn! Monson is looking to get to half guard. Ryzon controlling from the full mount. Monson can't escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monson is still trying to improve position. Monson tries to hold on but Ryzon postures up. Monson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ryzon tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The referee warns Monson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ryzon lands a couple of good shots and Monson has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Monson trying to control but not successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Dave Monson will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Ryzon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ryzon stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Monson. A slapping leg kick lands for Monson.
Ryzon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Monson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ryzon tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Monson is in Ryzon's guard. Joe Ryzon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Monson postures up.
Ryzon wants to stand but Monson is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monson throws a big elbow that misses. Monson wants to control from the top but Ryzon keeps moving.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Ryzon keeping moving, preventing Monson from controlling successfully.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Monson avoids the head kick by Ryzon.
Ryzon tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Monson is looking to slow Ryzon down with leg kicks. Monson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ryzon is landing a low percentage of strikes. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Monson. Ryzon shrugs it off though. Monson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Monson showed some decent athleticism there. Ryzon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Monson pulls his head out easily. Monson seems to be working for a kimura but Ryzon defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ryzon defends it well. Monson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Monson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Monson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ryzon is just riding it out for now. Monson eventually gives up the hold. Ryzon wants to control but Monson is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Well, if Monson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ryzon is refusing to be controlled, as Monson sits in half guard. Monson sitting and controlling from the half guard. Monson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Ryzon sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Monson moves into full mount! Ryzon won't be happy about that! Ryzon doing his best to control the position. Can he escape? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Monson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Monson tries to free his leg and advance position but Ryzon is retaining full guard. Monson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Ryzon is trying to control the position but Monson postures up. Monson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Monson trying to control the position but Ryzon is working away. Ryzon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Monson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ryzon wants to control but Monson postures up. Monson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ryzon, who protects the arm well. Monson avoids the strikes from the bottom by Ryzon. Monson moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Ryzon wants to control but Monson postures up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Monson staying calm.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Monson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ryzon keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Ryzon makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ryzon. Ryzon thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Monson postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Monson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ryzon defend it? Monson steps over the head and cranks it - Ryzon is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Monson!
