Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Slugger Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kevin Davis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Slugger Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Davis!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis moves in looking to clinch but Joe pushes him off.

Davis gets the takedown into side control.
Joe is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Joe is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Davis pulls his head out easily.
Joe wants to get back to full guard.

Joe is defending against the submission attempts here by Davis.

Davis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Davis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Joe is just riding it out for now. Davis eventually gives up the hold.

Davis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Joe is pressing down on Davis's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Davis looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Davis wants to pass the guard but Joe is keeping the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Joe is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Davis is fighting to break Joe's control of his arms but Joe is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kevin Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Joe gets caught flat footed, as Davis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Davis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Joe is pulling down on Davis's head to control his posture.
Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Joe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Davis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Davis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Joe lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Joe pushing down on Davis's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Joe moves into full mount! Davis won't be happy about that!

Joe working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Davis turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Joe off and cradles Davis's limp body as Joe celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Slugger Joe!
