Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Dux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Garegin Balayan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dux scores with a jab to the body.
Dux misses with an uppercut.
Balayan raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Dux fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dux throws an off balance right hand
and Balayan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Balayan turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Balayan throws a hook but Dux avoids it easily.
Balayan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dux throwing a counter right hand but Balayan manages to avoid it.
Dux throws a jab but it's blocked by Balayan.
As Dux backs off Balayan throws a huge counter combo but Dux manages to avoid it all.
Dux misses with a takedown attempt - Balayan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Balayan feints and then cracks Dux's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dux down.
Dux swings for the body but Balayan moves out of range.
Dux misses with a right hand
and Balayan counters with a nice kick to the body.
Dux lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Balayan throws a shot to the body.
Frank Dux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dux will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Dux. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dux swings for the body but Balayan moves out of range.
Dux takes a swing at Balayan's ribcage but misses.
Dux looks to score with a jab to the body but Balayan is just out of range.
Garegin Balayan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dux tries to score a power double leg takedown but Balayan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dux somewhat.
Balayan lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Dux throws a big shot that misses.
Balayan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dux.
Balayan throws a big counter head kick but Dux avoids it with no problem.
Dux ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Balayan moves away.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Balayan lands a left and a right that send Dux crashing to the mat, dazed. Balayan thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Dux is rocked!
Dux has been working on his balance at ~T~ Troid - Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Balayan.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Balayan tries to bum rush Dux with a series of wild strikes but Dux uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Oh Dux is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dux misses with a takedown
and Balayan rattles Dux with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Dux tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Balayan dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Dux stiff and motionless on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Garegin Balayan!
