The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mast closes the distance but Ortiz moves to the side
and Ortiz counters with a series of strikes. Mast will be more careful next time no doubt.
David Mast seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ortiz takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Mast throws a front kick aimed at Ortiz's knee but Ortiz avoids it well.
Mast fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mast misses with a few strikes there.
It looked like Ortiz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

As Mast looks to move away, Ortiz throws a big counter combo but Mast just gets out of the way.

Mast has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Ortiz throws a right hand that Mast ducks under and follows up with a left that Mast also avoids with ease.
Mast dives in and scores a takedown into Ortiz's guard.
Ortiz pushes Mast off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Ortiz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
