PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight kickboxing rules bout between Federico Manta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrei Dunas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manta kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ultima Corsa by Mondo Marcio. Andrei Dunas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrei Dunas!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunas swings for the body but Manta moves out of range.
Dunas throws a body punch but Manta moves out of range.
Dunas takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Dunas slips a jab from Manta.
Dunas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Manta half committed to a counter leg kick.
Dunas closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Dunas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dunas tries to close the distance and clinch but Manta swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Manta wants to clinch up but Dunas keeps it at a distance.
Dunas throws a nice outside leg kick.
Dunas throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Manta lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Dunas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Manta moves away.
Manta tries to move into range but Dunas moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Manta connects with a crisp jab.
Manta throws an overhand right that lands on Dunas's shoulder, as Dunas tries to avoid the shot.
Dunas pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Dunas clinches with his opponent.
Manta tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Manta makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Dunas wants to stall.
Dunas avoiding damage as Manta throws knees to the body.
Dunas misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Manta swings wildly with an uppercut but Dunas uses good head movement to avoid it.
Manta swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Manta lands a hook that snaps the head of Dunas backwards.
Manta misses with a short punch on the inside.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Dunas.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Manta has a couple of punches blocked by Dunas.
Dunas lands with a light punch inside.
A right hand to the body from Dunas.
Manta throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Manta.

Dunas told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Manta gets through Dunas's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Dunas lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Manta.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dunas tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Manta blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Manta lands with an uppercut that bounces Dunas off the ropes and back into range.
Manta throws a sloppy head kick and Dunas moves out of range easily.
Manta lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Manta thuds his right hand into Dunas's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Manta cracks Dunas with a good jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Manta lands a right and a left and another right! Dunas goes down! Oh, he's in big, big trouble! 3,4,5,6,7,8... he's up to one knee... 9,10! He can't beat the count - this one is all over!

Federico Manta seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
