Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jon Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Frettish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ed Frettish!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frettish keeps the fight on the outside.
Frettish circles away from the clinch attempt
and Johnson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Johnson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Frettish throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Johnson.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Frettish swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Frettish! But no joy.
Jon Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson instigates a clinch.
Johnson throws a punch but it's blocked by Frettish.
Johnson is trying to break the clinch but Frettish has him pressed against the cage.
Johnson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Frettish backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Frettish creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Frettish softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Frettish will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Johnson up against the cage.

Frettish lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Johnson tries to throw a body punch but Frettish avoids it by throwing Johnson back against the cage.
Johnson swings wildly with an uppercut but Frettish uses good head movement to avoid it.
Johnson misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Johnson struggles to land a body shot inside as Frettish controls his hands.
Frettish pushes Johnson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.


Johnson is rocked!
Johnson swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Oh Johnson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Frettish blocking some punches.
Johnson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Johnson tries to throw a body punch but Frettish avoids it by throwing Johnson back against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Johnson fails to land.
Johnson seems to have got his legs back now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Frettish has Johnson pushed against the cage.
Frettish lands a body shot in the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Frettish misses with a hook to the ribs.
The referee calls for Frettish to work.
Frettish scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Frettish holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Johnson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Frettish blocks an uppercut.
Johnson can't find room to land a body shot as Frettish controls the action.
Johnson wants to stall.
Frettish blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Johnson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Johnson misses with a short punch on the inside.
A short right from Frettish.

Johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Frettish cracks Johnson on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Johnson falls backwards against the cage. Frettish follows up with more strikes that drop Johnson to his knees. Frettish keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Johnson! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ed Frettish!
