Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jaime Sparx! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sparx's guard. Sparx had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Johnson defends it easily. Sparx is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Johnson defends well. Sparx looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Sparx is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Johnson drops Sparx with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Sparx looks back up at him and smiles so Johnson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Sparx is rocked! Sparx misses with a double jab
and Johnson counters with a powerful cross that connects right on the chin and the lights go out! A massive one punch knock out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bob Johnson! After the fight, Bob Johnson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. In defeat, Jaime Sparx stepped up to the mic, saying 'I dont know i need to work harder next time step up my game this is only the beginning it was great fight for him tonight.'.
