Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Juan Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Talisay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasquez comes to the cage accompanied by Battery. The key to victory for Juan Vasquez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Juan Vasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ricardo Talisay! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vasquez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Talisay tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Talisay fails with the takedown. Vasquez falls off balance throwing a combination
so Talisay counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Vasquez looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Talisay thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Vasquez wants to sweep here but Talisay controlling him for the moment. Vasquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Talisay on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Talisay looking to pass the guard. Vasquez is pulling down on Talisay's head. It's preventing any offense from Talisay, at least for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Talisay is pushing down on Vasquez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vasquez is fighting to maintain full guard but Talisay has managed to sneak the leg through. Talisay is looking to advance position but Vasquez won't allow it. Vasquez is looking to escape. Vasquez is refusing to be controlled, as Talisay sits in half guard. Vasquez wants to get back to full guard. Talisay is pressing down on Vasquez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Vasquez is holding on for now. Vasquez tries to get to full guard but Talisay has control of the leg. Vasquez is doing well to control the position and prevent Talisay from advancing to side control. Vasquez looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Vasquez is trying to stand.
Vasquez is looking to control Talisay's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vasquez avoid being mounted?
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Talisay shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Talisay has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. A combination from Vasquez does no damage. And Talisay tries to counter it with a takedown but Vasquez pushes his down on his head and steps out. Vasquez swings for the body but Talisay moves out of range.
Talisay ducks under a wild hook from Vasquez. Vasquez throws a hook to the side of Talisay's head but Talisay sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Talisay drops his hands momentarily and Vasquez takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Nice cross by Vasquez. Talisay's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Vasquez connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Talisay scrambles back to his feet. Talisay shoots in but no luck this time. Vasquez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Juan Vasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Talisay. Talisay looks winded!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Talisay takes one on the button. Talisay takes a body punch but keeps moving. Vasquez scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Vasquez closes the distance and pushes Talisay back into the cage. Vasquez lands with a right to the head. Vasquez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Talisay should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Vasquez lands a left and a right that send Talisay crashing to the mat, dazed. Vasquez thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Talisay is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Vasquez throws a series of punches but Talisay avoids them all with ease. Talisay feints the counter takedown. Talisay is still on wobbly legs! Can Vasquez finish him? Vasquez swinging wildly here.
Vasquez tries to close the distance and clinch but Talisay swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Talisay seems to have recovered his senses. Vasquez scores with a jab to the jaw. Juan Vasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vasquez misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vasquez closes the distance looking to clinch and Talisay counters with a shoot takedown. Vasquez fights it but they end up in guard. Talisay advances position into side control! Vasquez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Talisay's best efforts. Vasquez pushes Talisay off looking to stand but Talisay dives back in and keeps control.
Talisay is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Vasquez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Talisay wants to finish this one by submission but Vasquez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Talisay. Vasquez squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Vasquez dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Talisay takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Vasquez misses with the combination.
Vasquez works Talisay's body with a nice hook. Talisay ducks under a wild hook from Vasquez. Vasquez is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Vasquez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Talisay was well out of range. Poor timing from Vasquez. Vasquez stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Vasquez tries to clinch but Talisay moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vasquez is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Juan Vasquez is winning the standup battle so far. Vasquez moves into range and clinches up with Talisay. Talisay is breathing heavily.

Vasquez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Talisay. Vasquez forces Talisay back against the cage and clinches. Vasquez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Talisay can do to turn this around? Vasquez breaks from the clinch.
Vasquez feints a jab promting Talisay to slip. Vasquez then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Talisay slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. The fight stays on the outside here - Vasquez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Vasquez scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Talisay moves away from the strike by Vasquez. Talisay drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Vasquez defends it well. Talisay shoots in but Vasquez avoids the takedown attempt easily. A little feinted left hand from Vasquez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vasquez lands a head shot. A cross from Vasquez lands. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Vasquez lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Vasquez has closed the distance and engaged Talisay in a clinch.
Talisay has Vasquez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vasquez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Juan Vasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Talisay. Vasquez lands a body shot in the clinch.
Talisay is looking to take this one to the mat. Vasquez breaks the clinch.
Vasquez lands the left hand. Talisay takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Talisay ducks under a wild hook from Vasquez.

Vasquez digs a right hand underneath Talisay's ribcage. Talisay let out a lung full of air as it connected. Vasquez breaks from the clinch.
Vasquez throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Talisay tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Vasquez cracks a nice hook into Talisay's ribs. Vasquez connects with a right that clearly hurt Talisay. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Vasquez proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Talisay collapses and taps out under the pressure!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juan Vasquez! After winning the bout, Juan Vasquez thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
