Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tony Bison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Sergeant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Sergeant has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tony Bison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dan Sergeant! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bison throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Bison tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sergeant swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sergeant changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Nice sprawl there from Bison as Sergeant shoots in. A momentary lapse in concentration from Bison enables Sergeant to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bison manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Bison utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Sergeant landing with the ground and pound. Sergeant stays in close to Bison's body and controls the position. Bison not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sergeant not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bison is trying to control the position but Sergeant postures up. Bison wants to stand and escape but Sergeant is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sergeant stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bison swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sergeant has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sergeant thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Bison has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Sergeant wants to pass the guard but Bison is keeping the position. Sergeant missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Sergeant drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bison wants to get back to his feet but Sergeant is dominant here and he's now got Bison's back! Bison is covering up but some of the strikes from Sergeant are getting through and doing damage.
Sergeant doesn't have the hooks in and Bison manages to turn into his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Bison slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Sergeant is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sergeant wants the takedown. Bison is fighting it off but Sergeant persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Bison's guard against the cage. Bison knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sergeant on the ground. Sergeant controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Sergeant advances to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sergeant looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bison with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Bison is looking for a sweep. Sergeant is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Sergeant not doing much here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Sergeant working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sergeant takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Sergeant lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Bison gets back to full guard.

It looks like Sergeant might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Sergeant preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Sergeant dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Sloppy strikes from Sergeant. Those never looked like landing. Sergeant closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bison did well to prevent Sergeant getting side control. Sergeant seems to be looking for submissions.

Sergeant wants to free his trapped foot but Bison is holding on for dear life with his legs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sergeant is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Sergeant prevents Bison from standing back up.

Sergeant perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Bison wants to get back to full guard. Bison is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sergeant pulls his head out easily. Sergeant seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Dan Sergeant has got the better of the ground game so far. Sergeant seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Bison trying to hold on to Sergeant's head to control him but Sergeant postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sergeant looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bison gets in close and instigates a clinch. Bison is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Sergeant has Bison pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bison manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Bison lands an elbow that stopped Sergeant in his tracks for a moment. Bison trying to stall but Sergeant improves his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bison utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Bison is defending well against a takedown attempt.
