And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Longfellow Deeds!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Gites feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Deeds bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gites's guard.

Gites is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at FIERCE that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

My spies in FIERCE inform me that Deeds has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Deeds uses his free foot to push down on Gites's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gites.

Deeds is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gites defends it well.
Deeds seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gites does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Deeds content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Gites has locked up a guillotine! Gites's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Deeds is holding on here and Gites must be using up a lot of energy. Deeds has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Gites gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
