Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Aloysius Martin Thesz and Santiago Gracie. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Santiago Gracie! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Thesz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Thesz (4) vs (0) Gracie The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thesz takes a little break here. Gracie wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Gracie can't do much from the bottom here. Thesz is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Gracie will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Gracie is looking for a sweep. Thesz working away. Gracie isn't going anywhere. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. My spies in Brazilian Elite Team inform me that Gracie has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick Thesz off! Thesz jumps back into Gracie's guard. Thesz passes easily into side control. Nice work. Thesz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Gracie regains half guard. We've been hearing good reports from Thesz's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Gracie is staying active underneath Thesz, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gracie is controlling Thesz's position as best he can from this difficult position. Gracie's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Thesz trying to control the pace. Thesz is looking for a kimura but Gracie is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Thesz to get the leverage.
