Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mauri Saarinen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Muchacho! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saarinen gets the takedown into side control. Muchacho manages to work his way to half guard, despite Saarinen's best efforts. Muchacho wants to improve his position but Saarinen is controlling well.
Muchacho blocking the ground and pound attempt from Saarinen. Muchacho slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Muchacho is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Muchacho isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Saarinen stacks Muchacho on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Saarinen! Muchacho is looking to regain half guard here but Saarinen keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Saarinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Muchacho keeps working. Muchacho taking punishment in the form of punches.
Saarinen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Muchacho to his feet. Saarinen shoots in for a double leg but Muchacho sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Saarinen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Muchacho is looking for a triangle but Saarinen pushes his legs off easily.
Muchacho working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Saarinen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Muchacho is tightening it up a little... Saarinen has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Saarinen reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Saarinen taps out! nice BJJ there by Muchacho!
