The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marchand shoots in and drives through. Hawk sprawls well.
Marchand takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nice defenses there by Marchand.
Hawk ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Marchand moves away.
A telegraphed right hand from Hawk misses the target.
Nevil Hawk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hawk thows a left - swing and a miss!
Marchand keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hawk throws out a loose jab but Marchand uses good head movement to avoid it.
Marchand gets a double leg takedown into Hawk's guard.
Marchand thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Marchand slips nicely into half guard.
Hawk pushes Marchand off looking to stand but Marchand dives back in and keeps control.

Marchand lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hawk won't allow Marchand to pass to mount.
Marchand is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hawk sees it coming and defends easily.
Hawk wants to get back to his feet.
Marchand is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hawk is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marchand seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Hawk is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Rod Marchand decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
