Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vladimir Smirnoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Curtis Pedro!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Smirnoff. Pedro shrugs it off though.

Pedro darts in and clinches Smirnoff up against the cage.
Our sources have told us that Smirnoff has been working on his elbows in the gym.

Pedro manages to break the clinch.
Vladimir Smirnoff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smirnoff tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pedro paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Smirnoff defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pedro.

Pedro closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pedro lands in his opponent's guard.

Smirnoff wriggles free and stands up.
Pedro shoots in but no luck this time.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smirnoff misses with a kick to the body.
Pedro lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Smirnoff is breathing heavily.
Smirnoff misses with an attempted mid kick.

Pedro moves into the clinch.

Pedro pulls guard effortlessly.

Pedro has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Smirnoff has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Pedro is working for takedown but Smirnoff is calmly controlling the position for now.
Vladimir Smirnoff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis Pedro.
Smirnoff tries to circle away but Pedro has him pinned against the cage.

Pedro lands a really nice looking cross but Smirnoff seems unphased.

Smirnoff misses with a low kick as Pedro jumps back.

Smirnoff is looking to clinch but Pedro is avoiding it.

Pedro throws a right and a left that both miss.
Pedro fails with a takedown attempt.

Pedro gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Smirnoff tries to land knees in the clinch but Pedro avoids the damage to the body.

Pedro's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smirnoff finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Pedro or perhaps it was just good defense by Smirnoff, which made it look bad.

Smirnoff tries to circle away but Pedro has him pinned against the cage.

Smirnoff wants to stand but Pedro has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Smirnoff is fighting to break Pedro's control of his arms but Pedro is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Pedro has his foot on Smirnoff's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smirnoff works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Pedro lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Smirnoff is working an open guard so Pedro takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Pedro tries for a takedown but Smirnoff sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Pedro shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smirnoff pinned against the cage. Smirnoff gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Pedro moves out of range of the body kick.
Smirnoff throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pedro's waist but Pedro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smirnoff off to one side.
Pedro fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Smirnoff takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Smirnoff takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Smirnoff throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Pedro is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Curtis Pedro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pedro can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pedro manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Smirnoff keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Pedro throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Pedro is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pedro lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Pedro wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smirnoff, who protects the arm well.

Smirnoff might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pedro looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Smirnoff is avoiding damage well.
