Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Randall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randall has chosen Promentory as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcelo Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Randall! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Randall tries to avoid it but Hughes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Randall to the ground. Randall escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hughes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Randall misses with a double jab.
Randall fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hughes, pushing him back against the cage. Randall escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hughes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Randall's waist but Randall gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hughes off to one side. Randall misses with a takedown attempt - Hughes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Randall shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hughes sprawls well. Hughes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Randall gets slowly back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Randall throws a front kick that sends Hughes stumbling back into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes shoots in looking for a takedown. Randall tries to sprawl out of it but Hughes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Randall manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcelo Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hughes dodges the punch combination from Randall.
Randall misses with a takedown and Hughes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hughes. Randall prevents the takedown attempt.
Randall breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dave Randall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Randall scores with a punch to the head. Hughes moves out of range of the body kick. Randall throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hughes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Randall. Randall closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hughes circles away. Randall tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hughes defends well and Randall ends up having to push Hughes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Hughes shoots in but Randall avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hughes throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A solid leg kick lands there for Randall.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hughes or perhaps it was just good defense by Randall, which made it look bad. Hughes closes the distance and clinches up with Randall, looking for a takedown. Hughes pushes Randall against the cage but Randall circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Despite the aggression on Randall's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Hughes will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hughes's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Randall tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hughes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Hughes stopping the sweep attempt from Randall. Randall is looking for a triangle here but Hughes uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Randall looks winded! Randall is trying to get back to half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hughes tries for a kimura but Randall is defending well. Randall dodges the ground and pound from Hughes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Randall dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Randall closes the distance and clinches up with Hughes, looking for a takedown. Randall pushes Hughes against the cage but Hughes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Randall lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Hughes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Randall doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hughes moves into the clinch. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Hughes looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hughes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Randall prevents it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes wants to control from the top but Randall keeps moving. Hughes throws a big right hand that misses. Hughes won't allow Randall to get back to his feet. Hughes throws a strike but Randall rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Randall stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hughes swivels though and keeps the full guard. Randall stopping the sweep attempt from Hughes. Randall is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Randall gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Randall. An attempted straight right counter from Hughes misses the target. Marcelo Hughes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Randall. Hughes showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Randall.
Randall is breathing heavily. Randall shoots in but Hughes avoids the takedown attempt easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Randall. It looked like Hughes was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes shoots in and drives through. Randall sprawls well. Randall is looking for the big counter here. Randall is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hughes. Hughes fails with a takedown attempt. Hughes has his takedown stuffed and Randall counters with an inside leg kick. Marcelo Hughes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Randall scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Randall is defending well against a takedown attempt. Randall slowing the pace effectively. Randall is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hughes pulls him back up using the underhooks. Randall is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hughes is defending well for now. Hughes stops a takedown attempt from Randall.

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Randall walks away with a smile on his face. Hughes gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Hughes shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Randall defends it nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Randall showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Randall shoots for a double leg takedown but Hughes sprawls well. He's pushed Randall's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hughes tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Randall manages to circle out of the way. Randall shoots in but Hughes avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hughes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Randall sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hughes somewhat. Hughes goes for a double leg but Randall avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Randall continues to drive forward. Randall swats away the attempt to clinch by Hughes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Randall bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hughes's head. Randall fails with the takedown. Hughes shoots in but Randall avoids the takedown attempt easily. Nice takedown defense from Hughes. No joy for Randall on that attempt. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hughes is defended easily by Randall.

As Randall looks to move away, Hughes throws a big counter combo but Randall just gets out of the way. Randall fails with an attempt to clinch.

He's pushed Hughes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Marcelo Hughes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Dave Randall is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Randall throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
And that's the end of the fight! Dave Randall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Randall has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
