Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Rotch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and steven segal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). segal has chosen Rock you like a hurricane as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
segal misses with a head kick.
Rotch looks to land a body kick but segal moved away.
steven segal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

segal shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than segal was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
segal throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

segal stands up from mount. Strange move.
Rotch with a poor takedown
and segal counters with a stiff right hand.
Rotch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Rotch moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
segal scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rotch doesn't seem bothered though.
Rotch is breathing heavily.

segal gets a clinch.
Rotch can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Rotch. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rotch tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. segal smiles and moves away.
Rotch walks forward, straight into a front kick from segal.

segal pushes down on Rotch's leg and manages to get into half guard.

segal gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
segal misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rotch throws a jab but it's blocked by segal.
segal misses with a double jab.
segal dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

segal shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rotch is staying active underneath segal, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

segal is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rotch sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

segal is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Rotch is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
