The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sidious closes the distance and clinches.
Sidious works on Skovgaard's body with a couple of short punches.
Sidious creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Skovgaard misses with a punch on the inside.
Sidious lands an elbow just above Skovgaard 's eye.
I was talking to Sidious's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Skovgaard doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Skovgaard is looking to break free of the clinch but Sidious has double underhooks.

Valentin Skovgaard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sidious ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Skovgaard throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sidious on the side of the head.

Skovgaard throws a push kick but Sidious slaps the foot to one side.
Skovgaard lands a nice hook to Sidious's body. Sidious takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Skovgaard tries to land a front kick but Sidious steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Skovgaard avoids the head kick by Sidious.
And Skovgaard responds with a good body kick, but Sidious manages to step out the way in time.

Skovgaard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Skovgaard has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Sidious lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Skovgaard fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sidious.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Skovgaard in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Skovgaard drops Sidious with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Sidious looks back up at him and smiles so Skovgaard waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Sidious is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Skovgaard lands an uppercut, right on the button! Sidious tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
