Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerrald James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spank Crank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Gerrald James has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gerrald James seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerrald James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Spank Crank! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Crank has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Crank missing with a left hand there. James was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Crank scores with a decent looking hook. Nice cross by Crank. Crank tries to clinch and James counters with a low kick, right behind Crank 's knee. Crank shoots in but no luck this time. Crank lunges at James with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by James's hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James drops his hands momentarily and Crank takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. James jabbing away but nothing is landing. Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Crank on that attempt. James fires out a quick counter leg kick but Crank just manages to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round. James throws a leg kick but Crank sees it coming and checks it nicely. Crank will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
James was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Crank wants to clinch. A swing and a miss from Crank. Crank doesn't succeed with the takedown and James counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Spank Crank has been cut. Gerrald James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Spank Crank.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Crank scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Crank lands a straight punch to the body, keeping James at a distance.

and James connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Crank looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range. Crank closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Crank looks to land a strike but James avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Crank throwing strikes from guard but James blocks nicely. Crank trying to control but James is working from the bottom. Crank in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Crank looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Crank is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James wants to get up but he can't break Crank's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. James trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Crank striking off his back but it's not causing James any problems. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Crank wants to sweep but no luck. James looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Spank Crank will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Spank Crank's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
James tries to keep at a distance but Crank has taken the fight into the clinch. A short right hand to the side of the head by James. James breaks the clinch.

The fighters circle momentarily. Crank darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crank swings widly with a right hand
and James counters with a nice uppercut. Nice shot by Crank.
That's one minute gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from James misses the target. Nice body punch from Crank. Crank looks to throw the jab but James is out of range. James is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Crank misses with a hook
and James cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Crank pushes James up against the cage in a clinch. James has a couple of punches blocked by Crank.
Crank tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Still in the clinch, James scores with a nice short uppercut. James has had enough of the clinch but Crank keeps him there for the moment. James throws a head punch that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James wants to get back to striking at distance but Crank won't allow it.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Crank. Crank's coach down at LOD: Contenders (Max ID290) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Crank's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. A short right hand to the side of the head by Crank. James works on Crank's body with a couple of short punches. Crank tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. James blocks an uppercut.
James makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. A nice right hand lands inside from James. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! James misses with the head strike.

James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. James throws the left hand but Crank avoids the punch easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James takes a body punch but keeps moving. Crank throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent James stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Crank misses with a looping right. Crank misses with a hook to the body

and James counters with a leg kick. Spank Crank seems to be getting the better of the standup. Crank misses with a lunging right hand
and James counters with a nice uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Crank scores with a jab. Crank takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Crank looks to land a left hand but James moved out of range nicely. James takes one on the button. James takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. James misses with a straight left. Crank jabs at James's body. James steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Crank. James looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Gerrald James will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Spank Crank's cut. That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

A low kick from James lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Crank has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Crank and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. It seemed like Crank was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice takedown defense from James. That's one minute gone in the round. Crank lands an overhand right. James defending well as Crank loads up on a big left hand. Crank swings and misses with a shot to the body and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. James ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Crank is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in James's half guard. James manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Crank keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. I was talking to James's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Crank lands a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Crank slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James is looking to stand up but Crank isn't so interested in that idea. Crank trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Crank accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Crank stops James from standing up. Crank scoring with punches to the head and body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James keeping moving, preventing Crank from controlling successfully. Crank slips nicely into half guard. Crank has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Crank trying to control from half guard but James is working away. Crank working James over with strikes. James wants to get back to his feet. James keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. James wants to get back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. James swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Crank lands with a straight right. James didn't see that one coming. Crank misses with a looping left. An attempted straight right counter from James misses the target. Crank rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Crank gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Crank takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. James doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Crank ducks under a wild hook from James.
And that's the end of the fight! Gerrald James showed his dominance in that final round. I think James has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
