Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mckinley Wilkerson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maas Van Der Kaas! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Der Kaas has managed to clinch.
Wilkerson tightens his grip and picks Van Der Kaas up, before dumping him to the ground. Van Der Kaas manages to land in guard. Wilkerson being controlled here momentarily. Van Der Kaas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilkerson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilkerson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Van Der Kaas wants to get back to his feet but Wilkerson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wilkerson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Van Der Kaas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Van Der Kaas has escaped and now he's on top! Van Der Kaas content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilkerson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Wilkerson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilkerson can't keep his opponent in guard - Van Der Kaas advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Wilkerson is trying to maintain the position but Van Der Kaas is very close to passing his half guard. Wilkerson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Van Der Kaas looks to land a strike but Wilkerson avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Van Der Kaas looking to pass the guard. Wilkerson keeping moving, preventing Van Der Kaas from controlling successfully. Wilkerson pulls Van Der Kaas in close to his closed guard and prevents Van Der Kaas from doing any damage or advancing position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Der Kaas misses with a low kick as Wilkerson jumps back. Van Der Kaas instigates a clinch. Van Der Kaas is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Wilkerson is keeping busy. Van Der Kaas leaning his opponent against the cage. Wilkerson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Van Der Kaas is defending well. Wilkerson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Van Der Kaas fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Wilkerson really is a fat lump. Van Der Kaas misses with a body kick. Wilkerson throws a quick counter head kick but Van Der Kaas was just out of range. A head kick misses from Van Der Kaas. Van Der Kaas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wilkerson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wilkerson goes for a double leg but Van Der Kaas avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Van Der Kaas continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mckinley Wilkerson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Van Der Kaas, right into the meat.
Van Der Kaas tries for a takedown but Wilkerson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. It looked like Wilkerson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Wilkerson shoots in looking for a takedown but Van Der Kaas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wilkerson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Van Der Kaas clinches. Van Der Kaas taking a breather. Van Der Kaas misses with a punch on the inside.
Van Der Kaas wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wilkerson has him pressed against the cage. Wilkerson tries for a takedown. No joy.
Van Der Kaas is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Wilkerson gets underhooks to prevent Van Der Kaas's takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maas Van Der Kaas dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Wilkerson throws a looping overhand right but Van Der Kaas ducks down to avoid it. Wilkerson leaves Van Der Kaas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Wilkerson drives through and clinches with Van Der Kaas against the cage.
Van Der Kaas wants to break free but Wilkerson has control.
Van Der Kaas gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wilkerson.
Van Der Kaas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Van Der Kaas shoots in looking for a takedown but Wilkerson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Van Der Kaas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Wilkerson feinted there with a counter leg kick. Wilkerson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Van Der Kaas. Wilkerson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Van Der Kaas is looking to get back to is feet but Wilkerson passes into side control.
Van Der Kaas is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilkerson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Van Der Kaas is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Wilkerson is controlling him well. Van Der Kaas is positioning himself to get back to half guard. A bit of a lull in the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A control attempt from Van Der Kaas but he's now mounted! Van Der Kaas looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Wilkerson is landing with strikes. Van Der Kaas can't take much more of this. Wilkerson keeps control of the position as Van Der Kaas tries to break free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Der Kaas is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Wilkerson working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Wilkerson looking for the RNC. Mckinley Wilkerson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wilkerson has the hooks in. Van Der Kaas is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Wilkerson throwing damaging strikes from the back! Van Der Kaas could be in trouble here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilkerson biding his time, looking for the opening.
Van Der Kaas is squirming around looking to escape but he's just wriggling himself into more trouble. Wilkerson sinks in the hooks and manages to tighten his grip on a rear naked choke. Van Der Kaas has no choice but to tap and Wilkerson jumps to his feet to celebrate and slick submission win!
