Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Teofil Poplawski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joel Bates!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poplawski takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Poplawski takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.


It looks like Teofil Poplawski has been cut.
Bates throws a good cross that connects.


Poplawski is rocked!

Poplawski throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bates was covering up waiting for the punch and Poplawski finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Oh Poplawski is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Poplawski drops back looking for a leg! Bates is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bates manages to kick Poplawski off! Poplawski jumps back into Bates's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Poplawski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Poplawski lands a nice short elbow.
Poplawski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bates is defending against the submission attempts here by Poplawski.

Poplawski wants to work for an arm triangle but Bates is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Poplawski is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bates has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bates controlling the position for now.
Poplawski wants to control but Bates is keeping him busy.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bates is looking for a sweep. Poplawski is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Poplawski moves into full mount! Bates won't be happy about that!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bates can do anything to dispel that myth.

Poplawski is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Bates to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bates shrugs it off.
Bates is desperately trying to improve his position but Poplawski has a good base and remains in mount.
Bates tries to hold on but Poplawski postures up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bates prevents any damage by holding on tight.

Poplawski shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bates sprawls well. Bates wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Poplawski gets slowly back to his feet.

Bates throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Joel Bates is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bates has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Bates let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
