Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Asko Ilmarinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fredrick Glass!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Glass looks to land a combination but Ilmarinen avoids it well.
Glass has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ilmarinen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Glass gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Glass's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ilmarinen misses with a low kick.
Ilmarinen throws a lazy uppercut
and Glass counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ilmarinen wants to stand but Glass is controlling the position.
Glass controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Glass lands a couple of elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Glass trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Glass seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Ilmarinen has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Glass doesn't defend quickly enough and Ilmarinen has managed to lock this one up! Can Glass escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ilmarinen on a fantastic submission victory.
