Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kikeona Kulani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kathos Krathulian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kulani fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kulani misses with a takedown attempt - Krathulian sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Kulani throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Kulani lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Krathulian backs up against the cage.

Kulani sizes up Krathulian with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Krathulian clinches up against the cage. Kulani doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round. A battle for position here, against the cage. Kulani tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kikeona Kulani. That's going to take a lot out of him. Krathulian gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Kulani is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kulani looking for a guillotine here but Krathulian defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kulani tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kulani is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Krathulian must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Krathulian sitting in guard here, content to control. Kulani looking for a sweep. Not yet Kulani, not yet. Krathulian being controlled here momentarily. Kulani is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kulani looks to land a combination but Krathulian avoids it well. Kulani misses with a body shot.
Kikeona Kulani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Krathulian staying out of range there. Kulani misses with a looping left. Kulani with a body punch. A glancing blow. Kulani fails to land the takedown. Horrible takedown by Krathulian or perhaps it was just good defense by Kulani which made him look bad. Krathulian tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kulani paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Krathulian throws a half hearted mid kick. Krathulian is looking to clinch. Krathulian moves into the clinch. Kulani has Krathulian pressed against the cage.
Kulani blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Krathulian misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kulani.

Krathulian is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Kikeona Kulani will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Kulani connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Krathulian momentarily.
Krathulian uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kulani. Kikeona Kulani is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kulani comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Kulani tries to bum rush Krathulian with a series of wild strikes but Krathulian uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Kulani misses with a takedown attempt and Krathulian counters with a shoot takedown. Kulani fights it but they end up in guard. Kulani wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kulani working for a triangle but Krathulian defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Krathulian showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Krathulian stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kulani swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kulani cracks a nice hook into Krathulian's ribs. Kulani throws a looping overhand right but Krathulian ducks down to avoid it. Kulani looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Kulani misses with a wild combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kulani gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Krathulian pushing down on Kulani's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Kulani is trying to maintain the position but Krathulian is very close to passing his half guard. Kulani is positioning himself well to prevent Krathulian advancing to mount. Kulani wants to control but Krathulian is keeping busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Krathulian prevents Kulani from improving his position. Kulani is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Krathulian's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Krathulian's back! Kulani is riding his opponent, not letting Krathulian buck him off. Kulani is looking for the choke from the back position but Krathulian is controlling his hands well. Krathulian preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Kulani. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Kathos Krathulian will probably get the nod - 10:9. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Kulani throws a nice looking combination but Krathulian bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Krathulian tries to clinch up but Kulani circles away and keeps his distance. Krathulian avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kulani lands with a shot to the body. Krathulian changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kulani tries to avoid it but Krathulian manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kulani to the ground. Kulani escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A punch combination from Kulani misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kulani has his takedown stuffed and Krathulian counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kulani! Krathulian content just to control the position here. Krathulian looking to control but Kulani is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Krathulian takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kathos Krathulian just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kulani misses with a combination
and Krathulian counters by clinching up. A looping hook to the body misses from Kulani. Krathulian does a little dance to reset his feet. No joy there for Kulani, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

And that's the end of the fight! Kathos Krathulian comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Krathulian has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
